Kintaro fu rilasciato e fu messo a parte come Capogruppo l'anziano Milton J. Kinne, con l'anziano Donald J. Hamson come primo consigliere e l'anziano Glenn L. Hermanson come secondo consigliere.

Dean R. Lindquist venne rilasciato e come secondo consigliere venne chiamato l'anziano Richard E. Pollard.

Il 2 Maggio 1965 il fr. Cameron K. Deaver venne rilasciato e come primo consigliere venne chiamato l'anziano Richard E. Pollard ; come secondo consigliere venne messo a parte l'anziano Larry C. Hammer.

Cordialmente,
Clint

History of the Church in Vicenza (1959-1966)
Following is the text of a letter, written by brother Clinton G. Gillespie, at that time President of the Vicenza Servicemen's Branch, to brother Paul H. Kelly, Counselor in the Italian District of the Swiss Mission.

31 January 1966
Vicenza, Italy

Dear Paul --

After going through all the records available here, the following is the best and most accurate history that I can come up with. All of the historical records prior to 1965 have already been mailed to the Church Historian' s Office so information is somewhat limited in many cases. I hope that this will serve the purpose for which you need it.

The Vicenza Servicemen' s Group was evidently started in approximately 1956, from the information that you gave me, but I have no way of knowing the names of the officers who headed it. The first recorded information that I have is that on 10 May 1959, Elder Thomas V. Kintaro Sr. was set apart as the Group Leader with John L Ross, a Deacon, as First Counselor and no Second Counselor appointed.

In November 1960, Bro. Kintaro was released and Elder Milton J. Kinne was set apart as the Group Leader with Elder Donald J. Hamson as First Counselor and Elder Glenn L. Hermanson as Second Counselor. From the time of Bro. Kintaro, meetings were held in the Vicenza Elementary School at Caserma Carlo Ederle, Vicenza.

Starting on the 9th of April 1961, special Sacrament Meetings, in addition to those held at Vicenza, were held in the members' homes at Verona to ease the burden of traveling but all statistics were maintained at Vicenza. Because many of the active members living in the Vicenza area were transferred back to the United States in late 1961 and early 1962, all meetings were transferred over to Verona in March of 1962.

On 1 October 1961, Elder John H. Reeve was set apart as the Second Counselor to Elder Milton J. Kinne.

On 29 July 1962, Elder Kinne was released and Elder Jon H. Reeve was set apart as the new Group Leader with Elder Conrad J. Boss as First Counselor and Elder Dean R. Lindquist as Second Counselor.

On the seventh of October 1962, all meetings were moved back to the Post Chapel at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza. Elder John R. Franklin was set apart as the new Group Leader with Elder Cameron K. Deaver as First Counselor and Elder Dean R. Lindquist as Second Counselor.

On 3 May 1964, the Vicenza Servicemen' s Group was reorganized under the direction of President John M. Russon, Swiss Mission President, into a Branch with Elder Clinton G. Gillespie as Branch President, Elder Cameron K. Deaver as First Counselor and Elder Dean R. Lindquist as second Counselor. The Branch Clerk was Bro. Franco Cecchini. In November 1964, Bro. Cecchini had to be released because of his employment and Elder Don J. Lee was set apart as the new Branch Clerk.

In February 1965, the missionaries were allowed to officially enter Italy and the first pair assigned to work in Vicenza was Elder William Nelson and Elder Dennis Allen.

On 14 March 1965, Elder Dean R. Lindquist was released as Second Counselor and Elder Richard E. Pollard was set apart to this position.

On 2 May 1965. Elder Cameron K. Deaver was released as First Counselor and Elder Richard E. Pollard was set apart as First Counselor and and Elder Larry C. Hammer was set apart as Second Counselor.

In January 1966, the first lady missionaries were assigned to Italy in Vicenza, and these were Sis. Anna L. Cook, Sis. Louise Nelson and Sis. Rose M. Zbinden.

The area encompassed by the Vicenza Branch is quite large and there are members in such widely scattered places as Bologna, Modena, Brescia, Trento, Piacenza, Rovigo and Verona. The Larcher Family, a very conscientious Italian family in Brescia, work with the missionaries and meet with the missionaries each Sunday for their church meetings. Membership of this Branch has been slowly climbing and now stands at sixty-two, although many of these members are too distant to attend church in Vicenza.

Well, Paul, I guess that is about all I can give you-- it' s so late that I' m probably forgetting a lot and if you can think of anything or need to ask me anything, feel free to telephone. Sure hope this is sort of what you had in mind!!

Sincerely,
Clint
